The Black Maidens of Ghana have been crashed out of the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
Ghana who showed glimpses of winning the ultimate were booted out of the quarter finals of the competition after being beating by Mexico 4:2 on penalty shootouts.
Captain Mukarama Abdulai had the opener for Ghana in the 46th minutes of the encounter but unfortunately Mexico came back strong in the second half to get the equalizer through Diana Jimenez in the 61st from a spot.
Suzzy Dede Teye brought Ghana yo the lead after getting a 75th minutes goal and again Diana Jimenez in the 82nd minutes ensure that Mexico get the equalizer.
The game ended in a 2:2 stalemate and travelled to penalty shootouts were Ghana were beating 4:2 by Mexico.
Ghana secured a record nine points from the group stages after beating host nation Uruguay and New Zealand together with Finland and their exit from the tournament came as shocking to many.
