Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association has confirmed that a minute of silence will be observed for the late Raphael Dwamena when the Black Stars take on Madagascar today.
Raphael Dwamena passed away after collapsing on the pitch during an Albanian Super League match last Saturday between his club Egnatia and Partizani Tirana 24th minutes into the game
According to Henry Asante Twum the GFA’S Communications Director, FIFA has accepted the Ghana Football Association’s request to honour the the former Black Stars attacker by observing a minute silence.
“With regards to program to honour Raphael Dwamena, we officially wrote to FIFA to seek approval and this afternoon, FIFA has positively responded to our request so tomorrow we shall have a one-minute silence in his honour before kickoff” he stated.
The Black Stars will play against Madagascar at 4pm at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and take on Comoros four days later in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
