Blakk Rasta, a popular dancehall artiste and radio host, has expressed concerns about Chef Faila’s continuous attempt to break the record for the longest cooking marathon.
Concerning possible health risks related to Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon, the radio host turned musician Reaage voiced concerns.
He vehemently disagreed with the notion that people should deny themselves enough sleep for an extended period, calling it a “suicide mission.” He used the occasion to warn against the growing popularity of different kinds of marathons across the country, such as kiss-a-thons, stand-a-thons, and sex-a-thons.
Blakk Rasta stressed how important it is for people taking part in these challenges to put their health first. He highlighted the dangerous nature of losing sleep for over three days and clarified that he could not endorse such endeavors.
He thanked everyone involved for their efforts but hoped they would think twice about the possible long-term effects on their health.
“In Ghana, they want to do sex-a-thon. Some wish to participate in a stand-a-thon. They stand like this for 5 hours. No resting or doing anything for five hours. A few others want to kiss and participate in the kiss-a-thon. There in Tamale was a picture of Chef Faila going about her business. And again, as much as we love them and appreciate them, I will not endorse a suicide mission.
“And for me, losing sleep for more than three days is a suicide mission. I will not support that. I don’t know about you. It may be deemed as pushing the envelope, but I see it as a suicide mission. We pray that they do not lose their lives and that they learn a lesson that will help the whole nation,” he said.
Over 200 hours have already been completed in Chef Faila’s cook-a-thon, which is being held at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale. The goal is to complete the event in 240 hours.
Black Rasta, who gained international recognition for his hit song “Barack Obama,” is a constructive critic of the nation’s morality and social issues.
