– Boy commits suicide over a failed SHS placement in Tarkwa
It was a heart wrenching Saturday evening at Brenuakyim a suburb of Tarkwa, as a seventeen years old Junior High School graduate hung himself after verifying his Senior High School placement.
The deceased whose name was given as Jonathan Mensah, according to our reporter Sir Fresh, had earlier that day checked online for his placement only to realise, despite attaining an aggregated score of eighteen in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), had no placement in any of his preferred schools.

Jonathan is said to have check his placement with a colleague who incidentally had a relatively poor grade but was given a place of his choice. A disappointed Jonathan went home with a heavy heart and grief.
Hours later his family started searching for him, only to find his lifeless body hanging in an uncompleted church building in the neighborhood.
A note was found beside him, stating his reasons for committing the suicide.
In a rather bizzare turn of events, parents of the deceased had been notified of their Ward’s placement in Sekondi College some few hours after the incident.

In the meantime, the body has been sent to the Tarkwa Government hospital for autopsy and further investigation.
