The Government of Ghana has spent over GH¢3 billion on the free Senior high school policy since 2017 according to a release from the Ministry of Education.
The policy was introduced in 2017 when President Akufo-Addo gained power in the 2016 elections.
After three academic years, it has been disclosed that, a sum of GH¢3,551,413,786.80 has been spent on the ongoing free senior high school program starting from the 2017/2018 academic year.
Breakdown
Per the release from the Ministry of Education, government spent GH¢899,524,466.30 in the 2017/18 academic year, GH¢1,269,622,222.10 in 2018/19 and GH¢1,382,267,098.40 in the 2019/20 academic year.
