The Western Regional Football Association has in a statement released on Monday evening postponed indefinitely the Division Two Super Middle League until all legal procedures have taken care of.
The Association on Monday, June 12, 2023 announced that it has received an interlocutory injuction and therefore has held all plans for the Super Middle League which was originally scheduled for Tuesday June 13, 2023.
Ebenezer Kwamena Thompson successfully filed an interlocutory injuction from the Sekondi High Court on Monday to hold the WRFA from professing with the league.
The known Hasaacas FC fan, Ebenezer Kwamena Thompson claimed there are several illegalities he’s seen ongoing in the league and wants all sorted before progressing with the Middle League.
“I am an indigene of Sekondi and a lover of football. I followed the league and saw a lot of issues that came up due to this.
“We have to ensure the league has a smooth operation with each and every member of the association satisfied. There are a lot of illegalities going on which do not help the growth of football in the region” – he told Stephen Kwame Yeboah on Connect FM.
On whether he’s been pushed by Sekondi Hasaacas FC as being purported – “I am above being pushed by someone, I’m an adult and have been around for long. I take my decisions and no one tells me what to do”.
The WRFA will be summoned to the Sekondi High Court on June 23, 2023 where the case will be heard.
