Betpawa Ghana Premier League Champions Medeama SC lost 3-0 to Al Ahly SC in their first ever group game if the CAF Champions League.
The Ghanaian side were very eager to make a statement but their hopes were cut short as a spectacular second half performance by the home side helped them truimph over the rookies.
Medeama gave a good account of themselves by holding Al Ahly to a goalless draw in the first half.
However, after the break Ahly finally broke through the defence of Medeama.
Mahmoud Kahraba scored the game’s first goal on the 66th minute.After the first goal the home side built upon their momentum and confidence to grab two additional goals scored by Shahat and Salah Moshen and the 75th and 85th minute respectively.
In the other group stage game, CR Belouizdad defeated Young Africain 3-0 putting them second on the table after Al Ahly. Medeama are third on the table with zero points.
Medeama will now focus on their next game at home against CR Belouzdad at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday.
