It was all joy as Ghana’s only representative in the CAF inter-club competition, Asante Kotoko thumped Coton Sports de Garoura by 3:2 at the Military Stadium in Cameroon.
Goals from Emmanuel Gyamfi, Maxwell Baako and Abdul Fatau were enough for the Porcupine Warriors as they fly to Ghana with 3 goals advantage.
Coton Sport managed to pull two back to console their angry fans who wanted a convincing win prior to the cagey encounter.
Kamilou Daouda and Gueme Araina had the consolation for Coton Sport at their own backyard to atleast ginger the team prior to the return leg in Kotoko.
This means that, Kotoko are a step away to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup as they hope to run away winners in the return- leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
Should Kotoko get a win over Coton Sports would be the first time since a Ghanaian club qualified to the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup after Berekum Chelsea in 2012.
Coach C.K Akonnor and his charges are expected to arrive in Ghana latest by Monday to begin preparations towards the second-leg in Kumasi which is scheduled for January 20,2019.
