The Black Queens of Ghana sealed an outstanding two legged affair in a 7-0 aggregate win over Guinea in the first round of the Confederation of African Football Women’s Olympics Qualifiers.
The Nora Häuptle led side thumped the Guineans 3-0 at Conakry in the first leg and ended it four days later with another 4-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium to seal the 7-0 aggregate win.
Former Hasaacas Ladies FC attacking midfielder, Evelyn Badu was the biggest contributor of the goals, scoring three times across the two legs and providing one assist to make it four goal contribution.
In the first leg, Vivian Konadu Adjei opened the scorecards in the first half and there were second half goals from Doris Boaduwaa and Evelyn Badu to complete the 3-0 advantage.
The second leg tipped off in a similar fashion as only Evelyn Badu’s goal made the difference in the first half and additional goals from Princella Adubea, Evelyn Badu and Fidous Yakubu completed the 4-0 final score-line.
Nora Häuptle’s winning streak as Black Queens Coach has stretched to five games and scoring 15 goals without conceding.
Ghana will now wait till October 2023 to play Benin over another two-legged tie to decide which side progress to the third round of the qualifiers.
The Black Queens after missing out on the 2022 African Women’s Cup of Nations and the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup are ambitious over making it to the Olympics games to be held in Paris, France in 2024 June.
Nigeria, South Africa, Cameroon, Morocco and Zambia will return to the qualifiers in the second round after receiving a bye in the first round as the top ranked nations on the continent.
