The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has cautioned Kumasi Asante Kotoko to improve the quality of Baba Yara pitch or faces ban.
According to a letter sent to the management of the Kumasi based team by CAF, the quality of the pitch cannot be used for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup therefore has cautioned the Porcupine Warriors to improve it before facing the wrath of CAF.
The letter continues that failure on the part of Kotoko to improve the pitch within a stipulated time given, would be slapped with a ban and also all their group matches to be staged at a different venue instead of Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Kotoko, the only Ghanaian representative in the CAF inter-club competition, have qualified for the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time since 2008 and are paired in Group C alongside Zambian giants ZESCO United and Nkana FC as well as Sudanese giant Al Hilal.
The team have already landed in Sudan ahead of their first group game against Al Hilal which is scheduled for Sunday February 3 at the Hilal Stadium 7:00PM in Sudan but 5:00PM local time.
C.K Akonnor and his charges would then play ZESCO United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on February 10.
