Ampem Darkoa Ladies, Ghana’s representatives in the 2023 CAF Women’s Champions League, have recorded their first loss in the group stage of the competition.
After defeating the reigning champions AS FAR of Morocco 2-1, Ampem Darkoa fell to AS Mande of Mali 3-0.
Oumou Kone of Mande scored all three goals and produced the first hat-trick of the competition. Kone gave Mande a lead in the first half with a goal, added two more to complete the decisive victory.
Kone’s outstanding effort in the victory saw her earn the Woman of the Match Award.
The outcome, together with AS FAR’s 1-0 victory over Huracanes of Equatorial Guinea, leaves Group B very open with Mande at the top with four points, Ampem Darkoa and AS FAR equal for third, and Huracanes at the bottom with zero.
Ampem Darkoa will have all to play for against Huracanes FC on Sunday in Korhogo.
