The Management of Takoradi-based Connect FM have called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare to deal with the five police officers who assaulted its Journalist, Eric Nana Gyetuah.
Eric Nana Gyetuah, the producer of Connect FM popular morning show, Omanbapa was physically assaulted and arrested by some five police officers on Thursday, February 3, 2022.[ads2]
Some fully armed men in plain uniforms were spotted eating with some handcuffed men at the God is Love Chop Bar, a very popular eatery in Takoradi.
This was a very unusual scene, and as such attracted the attention of the public.
Eric Nana Gyetuah who had also gone there to eat spotted them and decided to take some shots.[ads3]
Unfortunately, for him, one of the men saw him and demanded his phone. When Gyetuah refused to hand over the phone, he called his other colleagues and then started assaulting him.
According to eyewitness, the helpless journalist was kicked, slapped, stamped on with their boots and his face hit with the butts of their guns, and was later handcuffed, bundled into the bucket of their vehicle and sent to the regional police headquarters where he was asked to write his statement and later bailed.[ads4]
And even though the IGP has expressed interest in the case, the management of Connect FM have called for the five police officers to be punished severely to serve as deterrent to others.
