Since the Black Meteors of Ghana were booted out of the just-ended U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, there have been several allegations leveled against the team. One such allegation is from Charles Taylor.
According to him, goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad must not be called up to any national teams due to his awful performance at the just-ended 2023 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Asante Kotoko shot-stopper was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Black Meteors at the tournament.
However, Ghana, who were seeking a ticket to play at the elusive 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, were booted out of the group phase of the tournament. This was despite opening their campaign with a 3-2 win over Congo.

In their second match, the Black Meteors were thrashed 5-1 by the host country, Morocco. Ahead of their final group game, Ghana’s U-23 side needed a win to progress to the last four of the tournament. However, they were held 1-1 by Guinea.
Danlad, however, conceded eight goals in three games. Taylor believes the goalkeeper is not good enough and should not be allowed to play for any national team.
Taylor continued, “One goalkeeper (Danlad Ibrahim) conceded eight goals in one tournament, but here you guys say he is the most excellent, “So you can clearly see that we are joking here,” he added.
Meanwhile, the technical team and the playing body have been dissolved by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after the team failed to qualify for the Olympic Games. Ghana last played at the Olympics in 2004 in Athens.
