Otto Pfister has suggested that Coach Charles Akonnor should rather offer local players the chance rather than inviting players playing elsewhere with little or no playing time.
The former Black Stars gaffer insisted that it’s a mistake to invite players from Europe who are having little playing time.
Though Coach Charles Akonnor has revealed local players will have the chance in his previous interviews with the Ghana Football Association media team, Otto Pfister insists that’s the best thing to do.
Otto Pfister managed 21 clubs and nations in his stellar coaching career that started in 1972.

However, Pfister, who managed the Black Stars between 1992 and 1993, believes local players who play regularly should not be overlooked for players abroad who struggle for game time.

During his time as the Black Stars coach in the 1992 African Cup of Nations, Otto Pfister named 10 local players in his 23 man squad for the tournament where Ghana finished second.
Otto Pfister says it is a common mistake most foreign coaches make on the continent.
“Some foreign coaches make mistakes in Africa, they call players from Europe who are not regular players,” he said in an interview with Citi Sports.
“But it is better to call up local players who play regularly and are in form than a player who is in Europe and has never played for his club,” he added.
