Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, owner of Elmina Sharks Football Club, has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for allegedly breaching multiple regulations following a Division One League match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks at the Dr. Nduom Sports Complex.
According to a statement released by the GFA, Dr. Nduom is accused of violating Articles 34(1)(a), 34(1)(b), and 34(6)(d) of the GFA Division One League Regulations, 2019, as well as Section 12(4) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019.
The charges stem from allegations that Dr. Nduom unlawfully entered the inner perimeter and field of play to protest a penalty decision, thereby interfering with the match’s progress. Additionally, he is accused of inciting players, officials, and fans of Elmina Sharks against the match officials.
Furthermore, the GFA claims that Dr. Nduom used social media to further provoke fans and club officials against the referees. This alleged conduct reportedly led to violence against the match officials, an act deemed as misconduct that brings the game into disrepute.
The GFA has given Dr. Nduom until Wednesday, February 19, 2025, to respond to the charges. Failure to respond within the stipulated time may result in further disciplinary actions.
This case has sparked discussions within Ghana’s football community, with stakeholders calling for fair and transparent disciplinary proceedings to uphold the integrity of the league.
