The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Mr Kwasi Bonzoh has been granted bail after his arrest on Wednesday, September 7, 2022.[ads2]
The astute politician and three other people were arrested by the Police for obstructing operations.
The police in a statement on Wednesday, indicated that an intelligence operation retrieved one of the excavators that were reported missing in the district.[ads3]
And while a “team of police officers were escorting the excavator to Takoradi, at the Axim Junction, the DCE organised and led some thugs to attack the police and obstruct the operation. The DCE and three others were therefore arrested accordingly”, the police statement said..
But latest report from the police indicate that the DCE has been granted a police enquiry bail after hours in police custody.[ads4]
“Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Mr Kwasi Bonzoh has been granted a police enquiry bail”, a police statement issued on Thursday, September 8 reads.
As part of investigations into the Ellembelle excavators, the Police have arrested five Chinese for their involvement in the case.
According to the police, an intelligence-led operation through the night of September 7 till the dawn of September 8 led to the arrest of the five Chinese nationals.
The five are Shi zhong Qix, Wei Lin Xi, Huang Qian Xin, Li Jian Wen and Huang Qian Shang and we’re arrested at their hideout in Esiama in the Ellembelle District in the Western Region.
In a statement, the Police says the Ghana Immigration Service have been contacted for the details of their immigration status and their Ghanaian sponsors to assist with the investigations.[ads5]
