Dr Eric Nkansah has been confirmed as the substantive Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES).[ads2]
He was appointed the acting Director-General of GES in October, 2022 as replacement for Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwah which generated lots of controversies.
His appointment saw the major teacher unions going on strike with a reason that a long-standing principle of appointing a professional to the post had been breached.[ads3]
But the strike was later called off.
However, a statement communicated to all regional directors of education dated Wednesday, January 4, 2023 has confirmed Dr Eric Nkansah as the substantive Director-General of GES.
The statement was signed by the Acting Director of Human Resource, Angela Frimpomaa Nkansah.[ads4]
“Management wishes to inform you that Dr Eric Nkansah, Ag. Director-General, has officially been confirmed as the Director-General of the Service.
“In effect, all correspondence and memoranda should be addressed as such.
“Congratulations to Dr Eric Nkansah, Director-General, Ghana Education Service.”[ads5]
