The National Democratic Congress at the Essikado-Ketan constituency have accused the ruling New Patriotic Party for importing illegal ballot boxes with broken seals to the coalition center.
This was contained in a statement from the NDC signed by Solomon Yaw Nkansa who is the Chairman of the NDC Regional Campaign Sub-Committee Communications.[ads2]
According to the statement, this has been tactics used by the incumbent MP Hon. Joe Ghartey to win elections over the past years but this time around won’t get away with it.
“Over the course of last night, there was a stalemate at the Essikado Ketan Constituency collation center over due process governing the compilation of results from polling stations and importation of illegal ballot boxes with broken seals etc etc. The incumbent MP has used similar rigging tactics during past elections but will not get away with it this time around”, part of the statement reads.[ads3]
The NDC believes per their own coalition, their parliamentary candidate, Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah is leading the race hence various reports in the media that Joe Ghartey is winning should be treated as palpable false.
“Per the Party’s own results collation the Parliamentary Candidate Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu- Danquah tops the election with over 51% of total votes cast across 153 polling stations within the constituency”[ads4]
“We shall be providing details in due course. Meanwhile we urge our supporters to remain resolute and ignore fake results purporting to emanate from EC”, the statement reads.
