The former General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has said President Akufo-Addo still remains the president of Ghana whether critics like it or not.
President Akufo-Addo retained the presidential seat for the next four years in the just ended 2020 December polls.[ads2]
The NPP flagbearer pulled 6,730,587 votes (51.3%) whiles competitor and flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama amassed 6,213,182 (47.3%).
But since his declaration as the president of the republic, the leading opposition party NDC have rejected the results of the presidential election, stating that they have rather won the election per their coalition results and have subsequently threatened the use every legitimate means to challenge the outcome of the elections which was announced by the Electoral Commission of Ghana.[ads3]
Some critics of the Akufo-Addo led government have also been raising red flags about the results of the 2020 general elections, questioning the credibility of the Electoral Commission.[ads4]
But Koku Anyidoho who happens to be the CEO of the Atta Mills Institute believes President Akufo-Addo still remains the president of the republic since the Electoral Commission which has been entrusted with all the powers have declared him the president till 2024.
“The only sitting President today is President Akufo-Addo supported by Vice President Dr. Bawumia. You cannot take it away from them even if you chew a full bag of gari, they are in power”, Koku Anyidoho said …[ads5]
