The Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Ms. Helga JM Boadi, was part of a high-level delegation to Cuba as part of a strategic working visit to engage with Ghanaian Medical Students currently studying under the GNPC Scholarship Programme. Other members of the team were Mr. K.K. Eyiah, General Manager for Research and Data at GNPC; Team Lead Dr. Hafez Adam Taher, Director of Public Health and Technical Coordination at the Ministry of Health and Mr. Eric Hammond, Director of Banking, Bank of Ghana; and Dr. Kwame Karikari, Head of the Education and Training Unit at the GNPC Foundation.
The primary objective of the visit was to interact directly with the Medical Students, assess their academic progress, and ascertain their level of preparedness ahead of their scheduled graduation in August 2025. Additionally, the delegation engaged with Medical School authorities to address the procedural changes surrounding the translation and legalization of academic certificates, a critical step toward the recognition of their qualifications in Ghana.
During their work visit in Cuba, the delegation held series of consultative meetings with key stakeholders, including officials from the Ghanaian Embassy, school administrators, representatives from the Central Bank of Cuba, and the One Hundred and Sixty Five (165) Medical Students in Cuba.
In her remarks to the Medical Students, Ms. Boadi emphasized that the GNPC Foundation’s support extends beyond financial assistance—it represents a long-term investment in their future and in Ghana’s broader health sector. She underscored the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that they are equipped with the resources necessary to complete their training successfully.
