Following surgery for a knee injury he acquired during a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier match against Angola, Ghana forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is anticipated to miss the remainder of the 2024/2025 campaign.
After suffering from knee pain at halftime, Fatawu was withdrawn.
The Leicester City star has “significant issues with his knee,” according to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), which is why he was left out of Ghana’s second match against Niger.
The 20-year-old announced his successful surgery on Instagram, writing: “All glory be to Almighty Allah. My surgery was successful, and I just want to tell you that I am okay and feeling good.
I want to thank everyone for your best wishes.”
In 11 league games so far this season, Fatawu has provided two assists for Leicester City.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku’s recovery in time for Ghana’s match against Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025 is still up in the air.
