Former Ketu South MP, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey has been elected the new General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the party’s 10th National Delegates conference on Saturday.[ads2]
The former deputy minister of Finance under the John Dramani Mahama administration has taken over from Johnson Asiedu Nketia after a landslide victory.
He contested against former General Secretary, Dr Peter Boamah Otukunor and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former Sports Minister.[ads3]
The former Propaganda Secretary accumulated 4,543 votes against Dr Otukunor who got 2,595 and Mr Afriyie Ankrah’s 1,408.
Mr Kwetey is replacing Johnson Asiedu Nketia who served as the party’s General Secretary for seventeen years and has been elected the new national chairman, defeating the incumbent Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.[ads4]
Mr Asiedu Nketia garnered 5,569 votes to defeat Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo who was seeking for a second term in office.[ads5]
