– Final year students of TTI asked to buy computers for WASSCE
– Students of Takoradi Technical Institute must acquire a computer each before they can sit for WASSCE
More than 25 final year students of the Takoradi Technical Institute (TTI) offering Information Communication Technology ICT have been asked by the school authorities to compulsorily procure computers each, to enable them participate in the practical examinations of the 2018 West African Senior Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Some students spotted by Skyy news purchasing some computers in Takoradi, explained the directive was issued by the school authorities. They say the school administration claim they have insufficient and functional computers in the ICT laboratory.
The students alleged that school authorities wrongfully want to confiscate these computers for the ICT laboratory soon after the exams are written.

Skyy News’ Abraham Mensah paid a visit to the school today. He reports the ICT Laboratory is virtually handicapped. Final year students who were about taking their ICT practical exams were seen fixing broken down desktop computers they’ve salvaged from their homes.
Head of the ICT Center for TTI, Mr Onyame who spoke to our reporter, debunked allegations by students that the school want to disown them of the computers they have been asked to procure for their exams. He maintained the directive by authorities to get students bring their computers for the exams practical is as a result of the under-resourced nature of the laboratory. He explained the school have hardly procured computers for the center since the inception of the ICT programe due to financial constraints.

Mr Onyame, stressed all parents of those students have been duly notified to assist with the situation. He however finds it unfortunate that some of these students resorted to the media to make such a false report about the school.
