The coveners of the trending social media tag #Fixthecountry will be hitting the streets of Accra to demonstrate against the government on Saturday, May 22, 2021.
The #Fixthecountry protest started on social media as a means of asking the government to improve the living conditions in Ghana following the increment on fuel prices among others.
The campaign has gained momentum for the past few weeks as many Ghanaian celebrities like Efia Odo, Stonebwoy, Strongman and top levelled journalists like Captain Smart, Manasseh Azuri have all joined.
Initially, these coveners wanted to demonstrate in the streets of Accra on May 9, 2021 but an injunction was placed on it following a court restraining order.
But it seems the demonstration will finally come on as a flyer trending on various social media platforms with ace broadcaster Captain Smart on it indicating that the protest has been rescheduled for May 22, 2021.
It is not clear whether the Ghana Police Service have finally given the conveners the approval but the flyer pinpoint that the protest is powered by Captain Smart and other #fixthecountry activists.
