After a protracted illness, Emmanuel Yartey, a former player for Ghana U17, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Accra.
At the 1997 Africa U17 Cup of Nations, which was held in Botswana, Yartey was a part of the Black Starlets team.
After leaving Okwawu United FC to play for Asante Kotoko SC, he was a member of the team that won several domestic titles.
He afterward signed with Accra Hearts of Oak SC in 1999, and as a member of the Hearts team that won the CAF Super Cup in 2001 and the CAF Champions League in 2000, he was a standout player.
The deceased player will be buried in Accra on Wednesday, in accordance with Islamic traditional customs and beliefs.
