Reportedly, long-term, recurrent depressive disorder and associated mental health problems have been treated with Freddy Meiway’s music by former AIDS ambassador Joyce Dzidzor.
Joyce Dzidzor perfected the “gesture” by incorporating Freddy Meiway into her new song Tatata, which is set to be released on Wednesday, April 10, and by getting his face tattooed on her back. Joyce said, “I have so much respect for Freddy Meiway.
“His music served as therapy for me during my severe depression in Hamburg in 2019,” she said in an interview with Graphic Showbiz on Monday, April 1, 2024. “I got him tattooed on my back to honor his 35 years of artistic achievement.”
“How many musicians have been able to feature him on a song? Getting him on the song was not easy, but in the end, we succeeded, and for that, I am incredibly thankful. The song is called Tatata, and I am in Ghana right now to promote it because I think it is a good song. It comes out on April 10. It talks about a broken heart and how to survive it.
“Freddy will not just jump on any song if he is not okay with it, so that should tell listeners that my new song will do well,” she said.
With over fifteen years of experience, Joyce Dzidzor has supported many artists, including vocalist Sherifa Gunu and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley. She was also a member of the Dela Hayes Women of Colour band.
When questioned about her next project and possible partnerships with other Ghanaian musicians, Joyce responded that it would depend on how well this one goes.
“My music career is full of plans, but they will depend on how well my most recent single does. If it goes well and is accepted by Ghanaians, it will give me the energy to continue,” she said.
