[ads1]President Akufo-Addo has refute claims that the free Senior High School policy is collapsing the private schools in the country.
Since the introduction of the free SHS policy – which was one of the main campaign messages by President Akufo-Addo prior to the 2016 elections, many have the belief that it is gradually collapsing private schools as most parent prefer to enroll their wards at the public schools rather than the private schools.[ads2]
But President Akufo-Addo is of different opinion as he thinks there are some parents in the country that afford their wards private education instead of the public education.
Speaking on issues surrounding the free SHS policy, President Akufo-Addo urged the private schools to see themselves as not in competition with the public schools rather continue to give quality education to the Ghanaian populance.[ads3]
“There are some parents who still enroll their kids in the private schools. The free SHS is not compulsory, if you can cater for your kids at the private schools then go ahead but it doesn’t mean those who can’t afford should be denied access to quality education”, President Akufo-Addo said in an interview.
