Ahead of the next elections, the Queen Mothers of several Kumasi markets have united in support of the government and promised to fully back the ruling New Patriotic Party.
The market leaders stated their conviction that these efforts are opening the door to a better future, citing observable advancements in their communities and the revolutionary effects of important legislation like the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) program.
The women emphasized that the Free SHS policy has significantly reduced financial burdens on parents, allowing more children to access secondary education. They expressed gratitude to the government for this initiative and urged all Ghanaians to support it.
“Long gone are the days when we had to sell our valuables, even our clothes, to pay school fees for our children. The Free SHS program has lifted a heavy burden off our shoulders, providing much-needed financial relief and unlocking new opportunities for our children,” she said.
This statement was given during a visit by Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, Ghana’s Minister of Roads and Highways and the Member of Parliament for Bantama.
He convened with the Queen Mothers to apprise them of the forthcoming campaign visit by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice President and the NPP’s Presidential candidate.
The Queen Mother, speaking for the market women commended the government for all of its efforts and projects during the last eight years. She emphasised important advancements in digitalisation, healthcare, road infrastructure, and especially the Free SHS program, which she said had significantly enhanced the quality of life for local families.
The market women’s endorsement of the Free SHS policy highlights the positive impact it has had on Ghanaian society. As the country continues to invest in education, it is hoped that more and more young people will have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
