President Akufo-Addo has said that funerals, parties, weddings, concerts and theatrical performances have been banned in Ghana until further notice.
This is due to the sudden upsurge of the Coronavirus cases in the country.[ads2]
Addressing the country on Sunday, January 31, 2021 President Akufo-Addo stated that private burials with about twenty-five (25) people can take place with the coronavirus protocols enforced.
“So fellow Ghanaians, until further notice, funerals, weddings, concert, theatrical performances and parties are banned”, he said..[ads3]
“Private burials with not more than twenty-five (25) people can take place with the enforcement of the social distancing, hygiene and masks wearing”, he added.
President Akufo-Addo continued that, “When I delivered update number 22, thirteen (13) out of the sixteen (16) regions had recorded active cases; today all sixteen regions have active cases. Indeed Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti, Eastern, Upper East, Upper West,Volta and Northern Regions are the hardest hit, accounting for ninety-four percent (94%) of the total number of active cases.”[ads5]
