The Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) has donated an amount of hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢100,000) to the Ministry of Health.

The gesture is to help support the government of Ghana in its fight to contain and prevent the spread of the novel Coronavirus disease in the country.
The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwaku Agyeman-Manu expressed government’s appreciation to the Bank for being a good corporate citizen in such a difficult time in the history of the country.
He called on other corporate Institutions, groups, philanthropists, individuals and all well-meaning Ghanaians to rise-up to the occasion to support the fight and take all prescribed safety precaution seriously.

The Managing Director of the Bank, Mr. Anselm Ray Sowah stated that, GCB has been following the challenges confronting Ghana in the wake of the pandemic and has been concerned with the confirmed cases.
“And so as the nation, sub-region and the world join fight the virus, it has become imperative for GCB to augment the effort of government to contain the disease, “he added.

Mr. Sowah said, the single motive of donating the amount of GH¢100.000.00 to the government is to support its programme and effort to save the lives of people and the country from this life threatening disease.
Since the outbreak of the disease, Ghana has recorded sixteen cases with eight of them reportedly recovering.
