The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced the appointment of Kim Lars Björkegren as the new Head Coach of the Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national football team. The Swedish coach takes over from Nora Häuptle, who previously held the position.
Björkegren brings a wealth of international coaching experience to the Black Queens as the team seeks to regain dominance in African women’s football. He will be supported by a strong technical team, which includes Charles Sampson and Anita Wiredu as Assistant Coaches.
In addition, Nassamu Yakubu has been appointed as the Goalkeepers Coach, providing specialized training for the team’s custodians.
This strategic reshuffle is expected to rejuvenate the Black Queens’ campaign in upcoming competitions, as they aim to qualify for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) and eventually the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The GFA has expressed confidence in Björkegren’s leadership and technical expertise, encouraging fans to rally behind the new coaching team as they begin preparations for their next challenge.
