In his eulogy of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku pledged to stand “shoulder-to-shoulder with the legendary footballer ahead of the maiden edition of the All Regional Games.”
Speaking as the honoree at the media preview of the creative sports initiative, which took place at Accra’s La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, President Okraku emphasized the GFA’s dedication to provide technical assistance to the competition’s organizers.
Asamoah Gyan is the initiative’s creator. In June, each region will host trial events to determine which athletes are the best athletes in order to prepare for the national championships in November 2024.
In order to raise awareness prior to the All Regional Games, the organizers plan to start a regional tour on April 16.
“The idea of the All Regional Games fits into two key areas of our current football ecosystem,” the president of the Ghana Football Association said, drawing parallels between the All Regional Games and the GFA’s focal areas. Addressing the foundations and identifying potential early. Asamoah Gyan and his group are assisting the nation in resolving the issues by organizing these Games.”
“The Football Association will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you, Asamoah Gyan. You are a proud son of our industry. We will give this product and this project all the support you undoubtedly deserve, especially with our “Catch Them Young Referees” primed to be part of this awesome initiative,” President Okraku emphasized.
“In encouraging broad participation in the event, Kurt Okraku said that “the All Regional Games should be our project. We should not leave it in the hands of only a few”. Ideas, the GFA President said, may normally come from one man, but the execution of the ideas must come from a group of people with the right levels of passion and dedication.”
The GFA President also expressed gratitude to the legendary athletes who graced the event and made a strong plea to the media community to support the All Regional Games and, with love and passion, lend their unwavering support to the development of sports in Ghana.
