Medeama Sporting Club whipped Kumasi Asante Kotoko by a lone goal at the T&A Park on Thursday, April 4,2019 in the week two of the Normalization Committee’Special Competition.
Kwame Boateng’s only goal in the game ensured the Yellow and Mauves pipped the Porcupine Warriors to secure the three maximum points at stake.
The Tarkwa based club opened the floodgates with a total dominance, creating glaring opportunities but Awudu Tahiru and Kwame Boateng squandered all.
Even though Asante Kotoko supporters outnumbered the Medeama fans, the home side didn’t lose guard and even doubled the pressure on the Porcupines.
Abass Mohammed was shown the exit after using his hand to defend a glaring goal ball which the center referee Maxwell Hanson whistled for a penalty. Kwame Boateng converted the ball perfectly to bring his side ahead of the Porcupines.
Hearts of Oak reject, Camara N’guessan was a delight to watch at the midfield, teamed up with Rashid Nortey and Justice Blay to swallowed the midfield battle. The trio combined out-powers and scrimped the midfield line of the visitors.
Coach Samuel Boadu who was tactically ahead of C.K Akonnor on the day, ensured that Daniel Egyin scrimped Emmanuel Gyamfi, a tormentor for the home side in the second half which even dazed and confused the ten men Asante Kotoko side to the bone.
A perfect replacement for Yaro Ibrahim, Yusif Musah ensured that Fatawu Mohammed stay at bay with a dazzling man- marking through out the entire minutes of the game.
The Porcupines created two chances during the two additional minutes but Medeama goalie and a former player for Asante Kotoko, Eric Ofori Antwi prevented his side by saving all two glaring opportunities. Medeama won by a solitary goal after referee Maxwell Hanson whistled for the game to come to an end.
