Gone are the days when clubs from Ghana suffer to progress to the second round or even make it past the group stages. Clubs from Ghana mostly lament about not reaching the so called money zone where they get eliminated.
Currently, this problem of progressing to the money zone has become a thing of the past as the motivation from the Ghana Football Association has uplifted most clubs going into Africa or CAF club competitions.
Through current GFA administration, clubs such as Medeama SC made it to the CAF Champions’ League Group Stage while Dreams FC made it to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup. It is the a Ghanaian club has reach that far first since 2004.
These two clubs involvement in CAF club competitions has also gingered other Ghanaian clubs to up their games as the quality in the Premier League has grown significantly.
It was at first only the traditional teams that make it to CAF club competitions but now Medeama SC and Dreams FC has open the doors for other teams to push for more success in CAF club competitions. Especially looking at how Nations FC, Hearts of Lions, Bibiani Gold Stars and Young Apostles FC are faring on the league table.
