The long-anticipated elections of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) concluded with John Kofi Ansah emerging as the new Chairman. Held in a highly contested environment, the elections saw a significant turnout with 132 votes cast.
Chairman Race
John Kofi Ansah secured a decisive victory with 96 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Isaac Koomson, who garnered 35 votes. One vote was rejected. Ansah’s win cements his leadership role as he prepares to steer GHALCA towards achieving its goals for the next term.
Vice Chairman Election
Phyllis Marku Moncar made history by becoming the new Vice Chairperson with a commanding 94 votes, leaving her opponent, Nana Amankwah, trailing with 34 votes. Her victory is seen as a significant step towards inclusive leadership within GHALCA.
RFA Representatives
Gabriel Godwin was elected as the representative for the Regional Football Associations (RFAs) with 23 votes, defeating Isaac Gasper, who managed only seven votes. Godwin’s role will focus on championing the interests of regional football associations in GHALCA’s decision-making processes.
Premier League Representatives
The Premier League representatives’ contest saw Fred Tindan leading with 26 votes, followed by Nkoo with 18 votes. Rahman narrowly missed out with 14 votes. Fred Tindan and Nkoo will serve as the voices of Premier League clubs within the association.
