Left Back Fatawu Hamidu Abdu secured a full Black Stars debut and provided an assist as Ghana beat Liberia 3-1 on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Medeama Sporting Club defender was handed a full debut by Black Stars Coach Chris Hughton. Fatawu assisted Ghana’s opener with a well timed pass and Ernest Nuamah did the needful with a good control and a low shot to give Ghana the lead.
Mohammed Kudus scored the second goal of the game before Jordan wrapping it up for a 3-0 lead into the injury time. The Lone Stars reduced the tally with a last minute goal as the game ended 3-1.
The Medeama Sporting Club left back has been in an impressive form which saw the Tarkwa-based side lift the Ghana Premier League trophy for the first time in the club’s history.
Fatawu played both legs of the Confederation of African Football’s Champions League as the Ghanaian Champions beat Remo Stars of Nigeria on spot kicks[4-3] after a 1-1 aggregate scoreline to advance.
