Ghana defeated Kenya 2-1 in a hard-fought match to earn a berth in the 2024 African Amputee Football Championship (AAFCON) in Egypt.
Ghana’s Black Challenge, led by youthful coach Steve Obeng, has performed admirably in the competition, scoring 11 goals and giving up just one.
Brown Williams and Hamza Mohammed scored the game’s only goals for the Black Challenge, but Kenya managed a consoling goal. Hamza Mohammed’s outstanding performance earned him the MVP title for the match.
The Black Challenge will then play Tanzania on Thursday, May 23, 2024, in the elimination round.
Coach Obeng expressed his conviction in his team’s ability and made the bold prediction that they would make it to the championship game.
Concurrently, Samson Deen, President of the National Paralympic Committee, expressed his admiration for the team’s exceptional performance and encouraged them to maintain concentration and pursue the ultimate goal.
The last group stage matches saw Nigeria defeat Burundi 11-0, Morocco beat Liberia 5-0, Angola defeated Tanzania 2-1, and Algeria defeated the Gambia 3-2 by a narrow margin.
