Former AshantiGold SC defender Richard Osei Agyemang has called on Ghanaian football leaders to make the domestic league lucrative for players.
According to him, there is no player in the Ghanaian top-flight league that can boast of Gh¢50,000 in their account hence the reason why Ghanaian footballers are desperate to move out and seek for greener pastures at the slightest opportunity.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Kessben FM in an interview, Richard Osei Agyemang stated that during his time with Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold, his money at the bank was nowhere close to Gh¢50,000.
“No footballer playing in the Ghana premier league has GHC50,000 in his bank account. No one I repeat. If any player has that money may be the money does not belong to him or he got that from elsewhere but not from football, he said.
“You can play between 2-5 years in the league and there is no way you can get GHC50,000″ he added.
The experienced defender who recently joined Real Kashmir in India disclosed that his decision to join the club was solely based on money and not football reasons.
