[ads1]President and Board Chairman of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Mr. Herbert Mensah has provided an update on the resumption of activities as the government continue to ease restrictions on contact sports.
Sporting activities have been on hold for the past six months due to the outbreak of the devastating coronavirus in the country.
But President Akufo-Addo in his seventieth address weeks ago gave the green light for contact sports to begin to enable some of the clubs and the national teams to prepare for their various continental assignments.
Furnishing members of the Ghana Rugby Football Union on the latest update for a possible resumption of activities, Mr. Herbert Mensah revealed that the National Sports Authority (NSA) has given the association the green light to resume training at the St. Thomas Aquinas Park in Accra.[ads4]
He disclosed that the NSA has taken upon itself to waved off all bills to enable the Rugby clubs to resume vigorous training activities for the next season.
Mr. Mensah explained that there would be two training sessions every day; one in the morning (6:00 am-8:00 am) and one in the evening (4:00 am-6:00 am).
He added that appeal has been made to the NSA to make venues like the El Wak Stadium and others available for training activities.[ads3]
Mr. Mensah also used the opportunity to encourage members of the federation to keep training and continue boosting their immune systems as the fight against the deadly Coronavirus continues.
He concluded by saying that “the Federation has been able to conduct over 150-200 Covid-19 tests and will continue before activities begin.”[ads2]
