The Teqball Federation Ghana has inaugurated its Western/Western North Regional branch in Takoradi
The Western Region/Western North Branch is the Seventh to be inaugurated after the inception of other six Regional branches.
The move satisfies calls by active players of the sport to get Regional Representatives in place to promote and develop the game across the country.
Speaking at the inauguration was the The President of the Teqball Federation Ghana, Mr Seth Kofi Poku Osei, chronicled how the federation started as a fun game and now a professional sport.[ads2]
He said that teqball offers athletes an opportunity to represent Ghana at international championships.
He also noted that Teqball was on the fast-track towards being recognised as an Olympic sport, hence the need to set up a Regional branch.
A five member executive was officially inaugurated to start operations in the region in short ceremony in Takoradi.

Nana Affum Amankra ll was sworn in as the chairman and will be supported by Mr Henry Bright Ansah, who will be the secretary of the association. Mustapha Fudail will be the Technical Director with Sani Mohammed being the Operations manager. Renowned sports journalist Solomon Amankwah will be the communications director for the regional association.

The Technical Director of Teqball Federation Ghana Mr Yahya Karimi at the inaugral ceremony outlined the need to support this association since Teqball has provided alot of opportunities for talented sports persons to also make a career. He went on to elaborate more on the rules that governs this game and urged all to push the association to the maximum.[ads1]
Teqball was invented in 2014 in Hungary by two football enthusiasts, Gábor Borsányi, a former professional player and Viktor Huszár, a computer scientist.
It is a sport played between two players as a singles game or between three or four players as a doubles game, which resembles table tennis.
Teqball is played on a curved table and with a ball similar to a football, hit by any part of the body except the hands.[ads4]
The game is represented at an international level by the Fédération Internationale de Teqball (FITEQ).
A number of world-class footballers including Brazilians Ronaldinho, Neymar and Douglas Costa have been attracted by the game, and the sport is now aiming for Olympic inclusion
