From the bustling Premier League to the serene European leagues, Ghanaian footballers continue to make their mark on the global stage. This weekend, several players showcased their talents, leaving a lasting impression on their respective clubs and fans.
The performance of a few Ghanaian players from last week is broken down below.
England – Premier League
On Friday Abdul Fatawu Issahaku pled the full throttle for Leicester City in a 3-1 home loss to Nottingham Forest. Having provided an assist from the bench in the previous game, he was given the start against Nottingham Forest. Fatawu was rated 6.5 after the game.
Jordan Ayew also came off the bench to play 22 minutes for Leicester City. In nine matches he has stated four and scored a goal. He had a rating of 5.7 after the game.
Antoine Semenyo continued his fine form as Bournemouth shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa away from home. Semenyo played the whole game as a left winger. He completed the most dribbles (2) and was the most fouled player in the game(3 times).
Defender Tariq Lamptey was exceptional as he climbed of the bench to provide an assist for Brighton in their 2-2 draw with Wolves. With just 10 minutes of play as a right back, he had a rating of 6.9.
Thomas Partey took up an unfamiliar role as right back yet excelled for Arsenal as they drew 2-2 with Liverpool. He won the most duels (13) and won the most tackles (4).
Spain – La Liga
Black Stars defender Abdul Mumin had a bad day at the office as he was shown a red card on the 22nd minute. His side however manged to win the game in a 1-0 score line against Deportivo Alaves. This season Abdul Mumin has 1 goal and an assist in 11 games as a centre back.
France – Ligue 1
Andre Dede Ayew played 90 minutes for Le Havre in the French Ligue 1 as a striker in a 4-4-2 system. This season he has played 2 games playing one as a starter.
Gideon Mensah played as a left midfielder for Auxerre in a 2-2 draw with Lyon. This season he has played four games and provided an assist.
Elisha Owusu also played as a central midfielder for Auxerre and continued his fine form. He has scored 1 goal and provided an assist for Auxerre this season.
Dutch Eredivisie
Ibrahim Osman played 78 minutes for Feyenoord against Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivise as a right winger. So far he has played 6 games providing 2 assists and scoring one goal in the process. He has an average rating of 7.9.
Belgium First Division
Majeed Ashimeru made a second half appearance for Anderlecht as they lost 2-1 to Club Brugge over the weekend. The 27 year old midfielder has scored 1 goal in 9 games this season.
Turkey – Supa Liga
Alexander Djiku continued his excellent form, putting in a solid shift for Fenerbache His defensive prowess, have been crucial for his team so far this season. He had a rating of 7.7 in a game that saw Fenerbache defeat Bodrumspor 2-0.
Jerome Opoku played as a left centre back for Instanbul Basaksehir as they lost 5-1 to NK Celjie over the weekend. Opoku was shown the yellow card. In 8 matches this season he has provided 2 assists.
Nicholas Opoku also played for Kasimpasa in a match against Samunspor which was his worst performance so far. Despite completing the most passes he had a weekend to forget as he made an error leading to a goal and committed a foul that gave the opponent a penalty. He was rated 4.1
Greece – Supa Liga
Abdul Baba Rahman was a substitute for PAOK Thessaloniki in their 1-2 home loss to OFI Crete over the weekend. The 30 year old left back has been crucial to his teams attack since last season. This season, he has played 6 games playing 5 as a starter. He has 1 goal contribution so far which is a goal.
