Ghana Rugby Eagles Men and Women emerged unbeaten winners in the inaugural Tri Nations 7s tournament between Togo, Benin and Ghana held in Lome, Togo from Friday, August 19 to Sunday, August 20.
Ghana had an unprecedented run as both men and female teams secured wins in both games.
Rafatu Inusah, Director of Ghana Rugby and NSA coach who led the squad to Togo explained that it was an excellent opportunity to give a chance to several younger players from Cape Coast as well as Accra.
“We wanted to blend new youthful players with some National players knowing that we have both final Olympic qualifiers in October as well as the Africa Games in March next year”
The President’s of Togo and Benin as well as Rugby Africa Exco member responsible for Player Welfare attended the tournament and full of praise for all who participated.
Head Coach of the Eagles Lovemore Kuzorera was hugely appreciative of the opportunity given to the younger players. He was impressed with the fitness and application of the new younger players even though there were mistakes to work.
