The Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah has heralded Hasaacas Ladies for winning treble in the 2020/21 league season.
Hasaacas Ladies were crowned champions of the Ghana Women’s Premier League, FA Cup and the maiden edition of the WAFU Cup held in ivorian capital Abidjan.
And according to Dr. Dominic Eduah who is an ardent football fan, Hasaacas Ladies have done exceedingly incredible for putting Western Region on the global map, a feast he termed it as historic and worthy to celebrate.
Speaking when the management and the entire Hasaacas Ladies visited the Foundation to present to them the trophies won in the 2020/21 league season, Dr. Dominic Eduah assured the team of the foundation’s overwhelming support whenever necessary.
The former Interim Management Committee Chairman of Sekondi Hasaacas, Mr. Eric Kwesi Essel who was the leader of the delegation that visited the foundation, appealed for an artificial turf to cushion the team compete very well in the domestic league to enable them continuously make the region and Ghana as a nation proud.[ads4]
The appeal comes following the Foundation’s agenda in developing sports in the country through the construction of artificial pitches nationwide.
The foundation is currently constructing thirty artificial pitches with some already completed and in use.
Dr. Dominic Eduah in response, stated that he will forward the team’s request to his superiors since the foundation is widely known for their massive contribution to sports development in the Western Region and Ghana at large.
“Women’s football is a difficult one especially that we are known of men’s football, and I’m happy because the team is from the Western Region , this means putting the region on the globe”, he said.
” We commend them most especially the management and the technical team as well as the players, playing football as a woman is very tough and I think it’s a yoo man’s job. We [ GNPC Foundation] are known for sports development and we haven’t stopped that, what we did is to localised our football hence building community pitches and as far as this meeting is concern, I will make your request known to my boss [Dr. KK Sarpong] who is also a football administrator, it is a must and we must do it”, he added..
Meanwhile, Hasaacas Ladies will be participating in the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League to be stage later this month in Egypt.
