The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation on Friday, February 21, 2020 commissioned a six (6) unit classroom block at Daboase Senior High Technical School in the Western region.
The six unit classroom block will boast of a 240 mono desks as well as 7 office desks for teachers and 7 white boards to enhance teaching and learning.
Being the social investment arm of GNPC, the building of the ultramodern classroom block forms part of the Corporation’s effort in impacting lives of Ghanaians through education.
In a short ceremony, the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah spelled out the Foundation’s module as an organization of change and a partner to Ghana’s drive to improve infrastructure, education, health and other programmes of positive social impact.
He mentioned that, the six-unit classroom is one of several provided by the Foundation to many second cycles institution across the country which forms part of their agenda of impacting lives of Ghanaians, and also stressed on the Foundation’s goal of impacting lives of not less than ten million Ghanaians across the country.

“This 6-Unit block is one of several others provided by the Foundation to many second cycle institutions across the country over the last two years and we’re continuing on this path to reach many other schools that need same,” he said.
According to Dr. Eduah, upon reports from his team, they realized that the school lack a sanitary facility and as soon as possible the Foundation will provide the school with a new sanitary facility to enhance comfortability in teaching and learning.

He urged the authorities of the school to maintain the new six unit classroom block, failure to maintain the new classroom block will prevent the Foundation from adding anymore facilities to the six unit classroom block for the school.
He mentioned that the Foundation have extended their tentacles to the various sixteen regions with projects set to begin at four of them namely; Oti, Volta, Greater Accra and the Eastern Regions of Ghana.

Ending his speech, Dr. Dominic Eduah commended the people of Daboase and the school authorities for their contributions and supports towards the successful building of the classroom block.
Adding her voice was the District Director of Education, Madam Ernestina Christinah Winful who reiterated that, the access to good and quality education for all Ghanaians of school going age is one of the thematic areas of the Ghana Education Service and commended GNPC Foundation for their massive contributions to societal change and believes with a strong collaboration, the district will see more of such projects in the subsequent years.
She added that, the Daboase Senior High Technical School have achieved great strides of infrastructure expansion kind courtesy GetFund and now GNPC Foundation and urged the school authorities to make good use of the facility to improve academic performance.

Aside the sanitary facility that the school is lacking, Madam Christinah Winful spelled out other challenges facing the school such as lack of accommodation for teachers, inadequate dormitories for students , lack of well equipped ICT laboratory among others.

To get more of such facilities, Mrs. Winful also urged the entire Community to help in maintaining the new classroom block and urged parents, companies and other institutions to emulate GNPC Foundation by supporting the school in any ways.
The headmistress of the school, Madam Irene Rebecca Ampaw also outlined a series of projects currently ongoing at the school which include a much needed infrastructural upgrade to which the GNPC Foundation has contributed immensely.
Present at the occasion were the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah, the District Director of Education Mrs. Ernestina Christinah Winful, the headmistress of Daboase SHTS, Mrs. Irene Rebecca Ampaw, former Regional Director of Education, Nii Lante Cleland, a representative from the Wassa East DCE, Chiefs and elders of Daboase, Student of Daboase SHTS ,District Commander of Police at Daboase and Staff of GNPC Foundation.
