The Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) Foundation has been honoured by the Student Financial Aid Office (SFAO) of the University of Ghana at a short ceremony organized to recognize the contributions of donors to supporting needy but brilliant students.
The Foundation was among a list of other Corporate Bodies, Churches, Non-Governmental entities, Individuals and Alumni who have, over the years, helped the SFAO to reach out to students with financial difficulties.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, in a brief remark, expressed the University’s gratitude to the various organizations and individuals for their donations to the SFAO which has enabled them to support some students to pay their way through school.
Noting with regret how financial constraints have barricaded many from attaining their academic dreams, the Vice Chancellor shared her firm belief that access to tertiary education by those qualified to pursue it must not be truncated by their financial standings.
She therefore called on all who can assist to join current efforts to reach a greater number of students needing such help.
Head of Education & Training at the GNPC Foundation Dr. Caroline Aggrey-Fynn, said GNPC recognizes the importance of education and the need to ease access to same for those who cannot afford to on their own and expressed the Foundation’s commitment to keep investing in the sector to improve the overall delivery of quality education in Ghana.
