The GNPC Foundation has presented a cheque of GH¢20,000 to the Edina Traditional Council as their support to the celebration of this year’s Bakatue Festival.
Speaking at the grand durbar today in Elmina, the Executive Director of the GNPC Foundation, Dr. Dominic Eduah who was a guest of honour, congratulated the chiefs and people of Edina on the occasion of this year’s festival and shares GNPC Ghana’s commitment to development and partnering traditional leaders and communities.
Just after his speech, Dr. Dominic Eduah on behalf of the Foundation presented a cheque of GH¢20,000 to the Paramount Chief of the Edina Traditional Area, Nana Kwadwo Konduah VI.
About Edina Bakatue Festival
Tradition has preserved for Edinaman and its generations a marvellously rich Annual Festival which is second to none, captioned “Bakatue”. This festival has remained much treasured and constitutes the priceless cultural heritage of its citizens.
Bakatue is a festival of the people of Elmina township and its traditional area, a geographical stool land more appropriately referred to as “EDINAMAN”.
Bakatue is on the first Tuesday of July (the month of Ayewoho) each year. It is celebrated in honour of the founder of the central town Elmina, the headquarters to Edina Traditional Area.
