Goldstar Air, a wholly owned Ghanaian airline, received an Air Carrier Licence from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to operate scheduled and non-scheduled flights to 12 destinations across the world, including Washington in the United States of America and London in the United Kingdom.
Martey Boye Atoklo, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) fromer Deputy Director General, Technical, on behalf of the Director General Simon Allotey, presented the licence to Eric Bannerman, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Goldstar Air at a short ceremony held at the Kotoka International Airport.

The airline will start full operations after the easing of restrictions imposed due to the COVID-19 and will initially fly to twelve destinations, which are Washington, Guangzhou, London, Rhode Island, Dubai, Monrovia, Lagos, Abidjan, Freetown, Dakar, Conakry and Banjul. Boeing 777 will be deployed for its long haul routes while the Boeing 737 deployed on the West Coast.
The entry of Goldstar Air into the already competitive aviation market, particularly on the American and London routes, is expected to stir up the industry to bring more benefits to travellers in terms of services and fares.

Present to grace the occasion were Mr Boye Martey Atoklo fromer Deputy Director General, Mr Paul Kontoh Director of General Services, Mr Daniel Acquah Director of Safety, were representative from Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCCA). Others were Mr Eric Bannerman, Mr George Quaye, Mr Charles Nettey, Mr Theophilus Edzie, Mr George Lartey and Mr Michael Neequaye were representative from Goldstar Air.
