Goldstar Air, Ghana’s award-winning and wholly-owned airline, has graciously sponsored the inaugural edition of OUR MUSIC FESTIVAL at the Alliance Francaise in Accra. The festival may well be characterized as Ghanaian music, whether traditional or mainstream, and it has come to honor all of these varied strands and help take them to new heights.
The goal of Goldstar Air’s commercial operations is to quickly develop the underserved Ghanaian tourism industry, so the airline supported the festival, which is a platform for Ghanaian artists with different approaches to the music they make to showcase their stuff and remind the world of some of the appealing melodies that abound in Ghana.
Our Music Festival is the innovative dream of Ekow Alabi Savage, a Berlin-based virtuoso drummer of Roots Anabo Band, better known as Ekowmania, who announced the great live musical performance, which was hosted at the Alliance Francaise auditorium, together with partners and sponsors.[ads3]
This first performance was intended to be a recurring yearly event that would be digitally streamed live across the world, with the resulting Highlife, Afro Reggae, and other Ghanaian fusion rhythms + of Vintage, but evergreen Pat Thomas, Ekow Alabi, who sings his own songs, and ‘Evangelic’ K.K. Kabobo in his distinctive abstract voice
Other performers on the night were the legendary guitarist Akablay N. Abiza, Queen Elivava, Nana Serwaa Korankye, and others. The show also featured ace drummer Nii Ayi Brown’s Holland-based Macabo Band’s new dimension in Ghana, rendering their Ga folk and ‘Funkyfied’ Kolomashie tunes and perfectly left indelible marks on the minds of people here and around the world.
