Goldstar Air, a wholly-owned Ghanaian airline, supported Chorkor Champs Boxing Club in Accra with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as part of its corporate social responsibility, with the goal of revitalizing juvenile boxing in Ghana.
Mr. Bernard Armah, a former boxer and now coach, founded Chorkor Champs Boxing Club in 2019 with the goal of developing young talent in the province. The Boxing Club recognized that a large number of children ages 6 to 18 who lives on the streets and Gldstar Air have decided to assist them in reaching their full potential. Since 2019, they have competed in various competitions, including the best boxer of the famous Besesaka tournament.
Mr. Edwin Lamptey and Mr. Dennis Kwarbeng, both airline crew members, made the presentation at the Champs Boxing Gym, where they were warmly received by Mr. Bernard Armah, the founder and coach of Chorkor Champs Boxing Club, and his competent assistants, Mr. Seth Aryeetey (Manager) and Derrick Kotey (Ambition Boxing Promoter).[ads1]
Mr. Dennis Kwarbeng said after the donation that, it is intended to supplement The Chorkor Boxing Club’s efforts to ensure that no lives are lost in their daily activities as a result of the raging COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to educate and train more sports personnel for national teams and promise to assist the club with boxing equipment and free tickets for the boxers to train outside the country.
Mr. Bernard Armah expressed gratitude to Goldstar Air for the timely donation, as well as the airline’s management for their assistance. This kind gesture and donation will go a long way towards helping these children. The airline recently made a presentation of boxing materials and cheque donations to the Willpower Boxing Gym and The Street Academy in Accra. The donations were also meant to rejuvenate juvenile boxing, which has been in the quiet for some time now.
Mr. Eric Bannerman, Executive Chairman/CEO of the airline, made the presentation and stated that his organization had to step in to check the waste and underutilization of boxing talents that abound in the area, as well as to help stem the rise of young people who may have boxing talents but instead find themselves on the streets. It is on the airline’s agenda to use boxing and its potential to promote tourism in Ghana, and it has advocated for boxers to take boxing coaching courses as a way to make a living when they are not in the ring.
Goldstar Air, wings of Ghana, has signed a strategic partnership with E-Station International Logistics Limited, located at Baiyun District, Guangzhou-China at the head office of the airline to use their offices and cargo warehouses in Guangzhou initially for our operations in China and to make Accra, Tamale and Monrovia the Cargo Hubs in West Africa by ensuring direct cargo flights to and from China and also the right goods, in the right quantities and in the right condition are delivered to the right places at the right time for the right cost, taking into account that our primary focus as a trendsetting airline will be to focus on top quality, short turnaround time and promoting highly competitive prices and ensuring excellent customer service as well as creating more jobs for the youth. The Chinese Logistics company has been moving volumes of cargo around the world and has been certified by regulatory bodies in China, therefore Goldstar Air sees this partnership agreement as strategic, that will give the two companies the competitive advantage. As part of the agreement, the airline will coordinate all efforts to maintain a cost-effective inbound and outbound flow of Cargo and also provide other logistics companies with a dedicated transportation chain and storage of goods, services that will meet customers’ requirements.
Goldstar Air is coming up with an Integrated Platform that will give leverage to exporters of Ghanaian goods who have registered with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA). The airline will give all companies who have signed on our platform, free advertising space on our In-flight magazine, Integrated platform, and aircraft screens during takeoff and landing to promote, publicize, market their merchandise or products and we will also be selling their made in Ghana products as duty-free on board, but the Exporter should be willing to sign an agreement with the airline to be the sole transporter of their goods.
The airline will soon sign an agreement with security and tracking agencies as well as Courier service companies who can provide fast and reliable services throughout Ghana to and from the airport for a shorter delivery time.
