The Chief of Essipong Traditional Area, Nana Kofi Abunah has revealed that, the President Agyekum Kuffour’ administration failed to pay the compensation of the land used to build the Sekondi Sports Stadium.
According to the Chief, the government was supposed to pay a compensation to the family who released the 9.5 acres of land to the government for the Sekondi Sports Stadium after ten solid years.
“Normally when they take a land like this, they pay compensation to the stools, as at now the money has not been paid, not even a dime has been paid to the stool of Essipong”, she revealed.
She however continued by saying “it’s Sekondi Sports Stadium but the land is for Essipong Stool lands, it was during the time of president kuffour that the land was released to the government for the stadium, but unfortunately, our president couldn’t retain his seat and a different Government came.
” A plea was sent to former President Evans Atta Mills for the compensation after former president Kuffour failed to pay but all the pleas did not yield anything so they wrote a letter to the NDC government telling them that money for the land which was used for the CAN 2008 hasn’t been paid but she didn’t hear from them.
On behalf of the people of Essipong Traditional, Nana Kofi Arbunah pleaded with the current President, His Excellency Nana Akufo- Addo to pay the compensation to the family.
